Music on the waterfront at SunFest
SunFest in West Palm Beach, Florida included nothing but positive energy, respect and enjoyment. Located at a scenic waterfront venue on Flagler Drive alongside West Palm’s intracoastal waterway gathered over 250,000 people from ages 1 to 85. What amazed me about this 5 day festival (I caught Saturday and Sunday) was the variety of people in attendance. Strollers and couples, young kids, teenagers, then older couples in lawn chairs and everywhere in between. The range of musical acts from Patti LaBelle to Nas and the B-52′s to Flogging Molly is likely to blame for the range of concert-goers; but the vibe was thorough because everybody was able to chill together and enjoy the sunshine – there was something for everyone.
Entire families, huge groups of friends and people of all types together in one place on a sunny Florida weekend to feast, enjoy the tunes and relax; then perhaps take a stroll onto any of three floating bars in the waterway. The festival came to a close Sunday evening with a spectacular fireworks display launched from a barge on the water. From the end of the dock the fireworks appeared to fill the entire sky and at times was so intense it resembled an optical illusion.

Founded in 1982, SunFest is Florida’s largest waterfront music and art festival. Held annually in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida the first week in May, SunFest attracts more than 280,000 visitors. The festival and the patrons that it attracts have a very positive impact on the community.The work of more than 165 national artists were on display, including jewelry, painting, pottery & ceramics, photography, sculpture, wood, arts and crafts, and more.
